And we're off...season 2010 begins
Wednesday, 14 April 2010
Season 2010 kicked off last weekend for what is set to be a bumper year for the Bluedogs. A record number of players have signed up for senior soccer this year. Pundits have speculated as to what are the key reasons for the significant swelling of numbers.

The following theories have been circulated

1 - it is a World Cup year
2 - It is the Bluedogs 40th anniversary year
3 - it is also the 40th anniversary for Rudge's moustache
4 - a bump, literally, in the birth rate 18 + years ago
5 - a record number of senior woman playing, which attracts men players which attracts woman players which attracts men players.....
6 - it is a World Cup year

( it must also be noted that two Bangalow stalwarts are absent this year. Micky Juice - who is out for the year injured. And the Bartman who has left the club for greener pastures at Alstonville - ironically Micky Juice injured himself tackling the Bartman during his Summer 6s campaign)

With such a huge amount of players comes an equal volume of work for the club committee. These mere mortals keep the club running so it is up to you...yes YOU to help make their job easier. That means paying your fees up asap. As it is said at Portsmouth FC " No pay , no play "

Neil Fuller is registrar this year so track him down to pay your fees - and if you think Neil is intimidating on the field chasing you down for the ball wait to you experience him off the field chasing you down for your rego fees !!

The Committee has also organised Bluedogs socks to be sold at the canteen hopefully this weekend. They are a tenner a pair - no not $10 each as someone asked.

Also this weekend is the local Premier Division derby between Byron Bay and Bangalow at 3pm. These games are always an end to end feisty affair however this year there is extra spice in the mix as Bangalow has absorbed a few key Rams players in the off season.

All other mens divisions also play at home Saturday starting from 1pm with the ladies 3rds and 4ths hitting it out on Sunday.

So get on down to the Kennel on Saturday to witness a feisty feast of football finesse .

Go the Mighty Bluedogs !!!!!!!
