Fergle Sharkie ?

The sandy soils of Skennars Head produced a tremendous dry pitch for our Friday night appointment with the sharky ladies of Lennox at six pm, sharp. Sharp is the apt word- from the whistle the home team swarmed on every stray ball like a pack of hungry white pointers. Fourth grade speedstars Mary and Naomi joined us in the deep end for a bit of fun, making an impact on the game immediately.

A lennox head defenders decided tackling from behind was a good idea in the box, tripping up a certain goal for Naomi. Pure luck prevented the said mentioned defender from seeing the crimson cardboard.  Instead a yellow was awarded and Kath Barker nailed the dot shot to the back of the net. No sweat. 1-0 at half time.

Mid way through the second half one of Hannah Kelly’s many power shots from out side the eighteen yard box hit the sweet spot, beat the Lennox goalie for pace and extended our lead to 2-0. The Bangalow backline’s wholesome defence frustrated the Sharky strikers. Doyle kept a tidy goal cleaning up any shots at goal and sending the ball straight back to our attacking line with a series of high bombs which threatened to interrupt Jetstar’s flight path out of Ballina airport. Thanks to all the crew who rocked up to support us. Full time score two-nil. J
